In his lightweight bout with Cory Chambers (1-1) at Saturday Night Fights (SNF) 13 on May 13 in Regina, Sask., Blair Oster (2-4) will be looking to rebound from a razor-thin decision loss to Luke McKay at November’s SNF 12. Oster is a native of North Battleford, and so is his opponent. So one can imagine both fighters want to get the job done next month even more than usual.
Oster took his last fight on very short notice, and that’s why he believes this fight will play out much differently than his last outing. “This time out is going to be a lot different,” Oster said. “I got a full training camp with great training partners where that other battle with Luke I took the fight on 10 days. I have a new found love again for the sport, it’s fun again! My diet is on point.”
Oster went to high school with Chambers and considers him a friend. But he said he’ll have no problem scrapping with a man he’s trained with in the past — all of this just makes him very familiar with his upcoming opponent. “I’m really looking forward to fighting Cory,” Oster said. “He has been a friend and training partner for a long time now. I think it was 10 years or so this crazy things of us wanting to fight each other came about.
Oster expects to put on a bout fans will remember at SNF 13. “This fight against Cory is gonna be a banger. I expect Cory to bring his A game because I am bringing mine,” he said. “I have no problem when the bell goes putting our friendship to the side. I plan on it being a war. The crowd is going to remember us that night. We both have Fight of the Nights. There is just something about this fight that you know it is going to be special.
“Like always though, I’m there to put on a great show for the crowd and to have fun. That never changes.”
